Transit Project Manager Wins Award

Transit New Zealand project engineer Jonnette Adams was announced as a regional winner of the New Zealand Institute of Management Young Executive Award in August this year.

She will go on to compete against two other regional finalists at the National Young Executive Awards in Auckland in November 2006.

Jonnette has been with Transit for the five years and has managed a number of significant projects including the $40 million Wellington Inner City Bypass, a project which attracted immense public scrutiny during its conception.

Ms Adams said that being given the Inner City Bypass project to manage was a major stepping stone in her career and has provided numerous challenges but also many positives including working with a great team.

"It's an honour to be named the Central winner of the Young Executive Awards as it represents the value of hard work and good project management, not only in the corporate office but also out in the field."

"I'm looking forward to representing the region in November," she said.

The Young Executive of the Year Award was established by NZIM and Management Magazine to recognise outstanding individuals who are prepared to go beyond perceived limitations, embrace emerging practices, and search out new opportunities while demonstrating excellent leadership and management practices.
