Transit New Zealand Year 13 Geography Comptition

Since 2000 Transit New Zealand has sponsored the annual New Zealand Geographical Society's Year 13 Geography Competition run by the New Zealand Board of Geography Teachers for Year 13 secondary school students. Transit is pleased to continue to support this competition as a way of fostering the sorts of skills that transport and other industries need.

In the course of this competition students are required to deal with real issues often in their local communities, giving them a greater understanding of the complexities of infrastructure and other issues. Transit hopes through the competition, to encourage young people towards a career in planning.

Prizes are awarded for the best overall entry and best entry about a roading project.

The judging panel is lead by Dr Nick Preston of the School of Geography, Environment and Earth Sciences at Victoria University of Wellington
For information about how to enter talk to the head of the Geography Department at your school.
