Would you like to play a major role in defining and delivering sustainable transport?
As an advisor within Transits Environmental Team you will be responsible for both leading and supporting impact avoidance and mitigation measures related to traffic noise and vibration, storm water runoff, air pollution, social severance, erosion and sediment control, spills and contaminated land, visual quality, climate change, energy efficiency, biodiversity and heritage. You will research and prepare specifications, guidelines and standards that deliver value for money in consultation with professionals, staff and key stakeholders. Your excellent communication skills will be needed to develop and deliver training programs nationwide. You will be part of a small, multidisciplinary team helping evaluate and contribute to projects from minor works to some of the largest construction projects ever undertaken in New Zealand. As Environmental Management Advisor you will be challenged to provide an unparalleled depth and breadth of research, understanding and advice. Experience working with the Resource Management Act will help you fulfil the role effectively, as will a good grasp of the principles of sustainability in the New Zealand context. The development and implementation of technology improves the operation and efficiency of New Zealands state highway network. This is a newly created role in Transit New Zealands newly created Traffic Management Centre (TMC). Based in Wellington you will work closely with our Traffic Operations Manger to manage the Central zones operational capability. The position holder will have experience of operational environments for traffic management, including traffic signals and highway management. This experience will cover routine operations, incident and special event management, as well as traffic modelling and the configuration and use of traffic management systems. A large part of this role is the day to day management of your team of TMC operators, so you will be comfortable leading and motivating them. You will be able to interact with stakeholders to ensure that the TMC plays a central role in the relationships between Transit, the Police and Wellington City Council.
