Transit to carry out inspection work on SH6 at Nevis Bluff

Inspection work on State Highway 6 at the Nevis Bluff from May 12 could cause traffic delays of up to 5 minutes, says Transit New Zealand.

The work is part of Transit's ongoing safety strategy at the Nevis Bluff, which is about midway between Queenstown and Cromwell, and will help clarify what work is needed at the Bluff in the future.

The project will comprise abseil inspection, investigation drilling and inspection from a crane.

The work will begin on Monday 12 May 2008 and is expected to be completed by Friday 23 May 2008.

For safety considerations, traffic delays of up to 5 minutes can be expected between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm daily, Monday to Friday.

To carry out this work safely on the bluff, and with regard to the safety of road users, traffic delays are unavoidable and Transit regrets any inconvenience caused by these delays.
