Why Consult?

Transit is committed to open and honest consultation with all road users and major stakeholders, including business, local government, communities and iwi.

Transit carries out this consultation in terms of its statutory responsibility under the Land Transport Management Act 2003 to undertake consultation for programmes and projects in accordance with specific scope, process and consultation principles set out in the Act.

How to make a Submission

For specific guidelines on submitting comments, please read the consultation document. The consultation document will always supersede the information provided here.

Generally comments must be submitted in writing. Typed comments are preferred, but clear handwriting is acceptable. Submissions can be returned via post, fax, email. Please forward your submission to Transit New Zealand by the relevant closing date.

When commenting please provide:

  • your name, organisation if appropriate, daytime and mobile telephone numbers and email address. We may wish to contact you to acknowledge your submission or to seek clarification or discuss your comments;
  • the page number and/or paragraph number(s) you are referring to and, where appropriate, the table or figure to which the comment refers;
  • a concise explanation as to why the item is unsatisfactory as currently presented;
  • a suggested alternative text, table or figure and supporting data where appropriate; and
  • an explanation of the reasons for your suggested changes.

Please indicate if you wish to be heard in person at a hearing.

Please note that your submission will become publicly available information. For this reason, you should indicate clearly if your comments are commercially sensitive or if, for some other reason, you consider that they should not be disclosed. Any request for non-disclosure will be considered in terms of the Official Information Act 1982.
