State Highway Plan and Forecast

Each year Transit publishes a State Highway Plan and Forecast, detailing planned state highway maintenance and capital improvements. The Forecast sets out in detail Transit's programme of work for the current year, the remaining plan years covered by the government's funding guarantee, and a forecast out to 10 years.

This forecast is the last that will be published by Transit NZ. In July 2008 Transit NZ and Land Transport NZ will merge to form the NZ Transport Agency. In future, state highway activities will be included in Regional Land Transport Plans and will be consulted on regionally. The NZ Transport Agency will be publishing a 3 year National Land Transport Programme in 2009.

NZTA releases proposed SH activities for 2009/10 to 2011/12

The NZTA has released a list of proposed state highway activities for the period 2009/10 to 2011/12 to Regional Transport Committees and the Auckland Regional Transport Authority. Regional Transport Committees (RTCs) need this information together with information from other Approved Organisations to prepare Regional Land Transport Programmes (RLTPs).

The next step is for RTCs to prioritise activities in their region, consult and develop RLTPs which they need to submit to the NZTA for inclusion in the 2009/10 to 2011/12 National Land Transport Programme.
