Enforcement

The Mana transit lanes will be patrolled during the operating hours to make sure everyone follows the rules. If you don’t, the offence will be recorded and you will receive an infringement notice in the mail. The penalty is $150 and it will need to be paid within a specific time period, similar to normal traffic infringement notices.

The Mana transit lanes are a first for Wellington and to allow everyone to become familiar with their operation, there will be a ‘period of grace’ when infringement notices will not be issued. Instead, a letter advising of the offence will be sent to the registered owner of the vehicle as a reminder of the rules.

This checklist will help you to use the transit lanes appropriately within the set operating hours:

1) Do you have two or more people in your vehicle?

2) Are you travelling via motorcycle, bicycle or bus?

3) Are you turning into a side road or property along Mana Esplanade?

If you answered yes to any of the above, you can use the Mana transit lanes.
