Demolition of Buildings for Harbour Link almost Complete

2 August 2007

Monday morning will see the commencement of demolition of the old Toll Plaza building adjacent to Aerodrome Bridge.  This building is one of the remaining few buildings that are still to be removed, as work progresses on construction of Transit New Zealand’s Harbour Link Project.

Harbour Link Project Manager, Kevin Reid, said that sightscreens would be erected prior to demolition works starting to ensure it did not distract motorists and to keep traffic delays to a minimum.

Between 5 to 9 August, the first traffic shifts required for Stage 2 of the Project will be undertaken.  To allow construction of the Chapel St eastbound off-ramp, the lanes at the east end of Takitimu Dr will need to be shifted southwards, towards the Tauranga Domain.  There will be full closures of westbound lanes on Takitimu Dr from Chapel St to Elizabeth St from 10pm to 6am during this period.  Signposted detour routes will be in place.  Eastbound lanes from Elizabeth St to Chapel St will be single lane only, between the hours of 8pm to 6am.

The Harbour Link Project Information Centre, located on Dive Cr just before the roundabout at Marsh St, is now open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm, and the staff there will be happy to answer any questions regarding the project.  The project also has a 24 hour information phone number: 0800 THL INFO - 0800 845 463.
