Clearing of trees and vegetation along both sides of the Causeway next to the Tauranga Bridge Marina is due to begin on Monday.
The work is being undertaken as part of Transit New Zealand's Harbour Link Project, in preparation for four-laning the Causeway and construction of the traffic lanes approach to the new Harbour Bridge.
On the northern (Marina) side of the Causeway, pohutukawa which can be salvaged will be moved across the road to replenish the existing planting. The landscaping design along the southern side of the Causeway includes pohutukawa and karaka, combined with extensive low-level planting.
Harbour Link Project Manager Kevin Reid said that tree clearing along Takitimu Dr would also be carried out to allow for construction of the Chapel St westbound on-ramp.
Road shoulder closures will be in place while the work is being carried out over a period of three weeks.NEWS MEDIA: For further information, contact:
