Lane Closure for Tauranga-bound Traffic

Motorists travelling to Tauranga from Hewletts Rd will notice changes to traffic lanes near the Tasman Quay/Hewletts Rd intersection from the beginning of next week.

A lane closure is required on the approach to the old toll plaza building site to relocate existing services as part of the NZ Transport Agency's Harbour Link Project.

Just past the Tasman Quay lights traffic will merge from three to two lanes and then merge from two lanes to a single lane before the corner.

NZ Transport Agency's Project Manager Kevin Reid said that this work has been scheduled during the school holidays to minimise disruption to motorists, as traditionally there is less traffic on the roads during the morning and evening peak times.

"Relocating existing services in this area will take about one week and the current merge lanes will be reinstated once the work is completed" he said.
