Develops, manages and maintains the country's state highways. This network of major roads and motorways provides a strategic link to the 82,000 kilometres of local roads managed by local authorities.
Tauranga City Council is the territorial local authority which includes Tauranga, Mt Maunganui and Papamoa. The Council manages, maintains and develops local roads (excluding state highways) on behalf of its residents and ratepayers. Tauranga City has been responsible for the development of the project up to this point and will be compensated by Transit for the costs it has incurred to date.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council is the territorial local authority adjacent to Tauranga and Mt Maunganui. The district stretches from Te Puke in the southeast to Katikati and Waihi Beach in the northwest. The council manages, maintains and develops local roads (excluding state highways) on behalf of its residents and ratepayers.
Environment Bay of Plenty is responsible for planning and providing public transport services across the Bay of Plenty region, and preparing and administering the Regional Land Transport Strategy outlining future development of all modes of land transport in the region.
SmartTransport is a partnership formed to coordinate the land transport development in the Western Bay of Plenty sub-region of New Zealand.
Beca are consultants to Transit. They have developed the design and will be assisting Transit to manage the construction of the Harbour Link Project.
Fulton Hogan has been awarded the contract by Transit New Zealand to construct Stage 1 of the Harbour Link Project.
Fletcher Construction has been awarded the contract by Transit New Zealand to construct Stage 2 of the Harbour Link Project.
