SH2 Maramarua Highway

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is progressively implementing a strategy to upgrade the 35km section of SH2 from the SH1/2 interchange near Pokeno to the SH2/27 junction at Mangatarata in the Hauraki Plains. This section of SH2 is known as the Maramarua Highway.

The Maramarua Highway is being upgraded in sections as priorities are determined and funding becomes available. Sections of the highway will initially be upgraded to a two-lane highway with passing lanes, with provision made for widening them to four lanes, as future demand requires and funding permits.
