The draft Scheme Assessment Report (SAR) is a Report on the findings from investigatory and preliminary design work on Phase 1 of the Transmission Gully project.
The report is now available for viewing and downloading. The report is a 'draft' report because public and community feedback is currently being sought on the preferred route which may result in changes to the preferred route and if so, changes to the report as well.
Volume 1 of the Scheme Assessment Report provides a brief background to the Transmission Gully project, including the rationale for the project, an outline of design methodology, the process that identified the two best alignment options is outlined, and the advantages of the 'Preferred Alignment' described in detail.
Companion Volumes 2, 3 and 4 offer a more detailed, technical basis for the conclusions and recommendations made. Currently only Volume 2 is available for viewing and downloading, with the remaining volumes to be uploaded as soon as they are finalised.
Section 11 Traffic and Economics of Volume 2 is not available yet as this section is currently being peer-reviewed. Similarly the associated Appendices in Volume 3 are not available. The scheme Road Safety Audit of the preferred route is currently being undertaken and will be made available as soon as it is completed.
Land requirement plans are similarly not posted and will not be available until required consultation with affected land owners has been satisfactorily completed and the extent and scope of any alteration to the existing Designation required is ready for lodging.
Please note that where electronic file sizes are very large, the documents have not been posted but are available by e-mailing the project team at transmissiongully@nzta.govt.nz and we will send out a copy on CD-ROM. Some of the documents posted are also large and may take a while to download, and so these can also be obtained on CD-ROM by emailing the team.
On 1 August 2008, Transit New Zealand merged with Land Transport New Zealand to become the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA). The NZTA was established to provide an integrated approach to transport planning, funding and delivery.
It must be noted that the draft Scheme Assessment Report and the Transmission Gully web-site was prepared by Transit New Zealand. Any references to Transit should now be read as the New Zealand Transport Agency.
