Overseas Examples

Electronic toll collection systems operate in many countries overseas.  By examining how they operate, Transit is able to learn from the successes and mistakes of others and ensure New Zealand’s toll system is right the first time.

Transit has studied tolling projects in both the public and private sector.  While there have been some problems, tolling is proving to be a safe and effective means of meeting the infrastructure needs of a growing economy and population.
