| Interesting Facts: | The East Tamaki Connection is a new development in South Auckland designed to improve access to the Southern Motorway for the rapidly growing area.
In addition to improving access, the project will relieve congestion and give improved traffic movement from the industrial and commercial sectors in the East Tamaki and Otahuhu areas. The replacement of the closed Water Street off-ramp with the new Princes Street off-ramp means traffic exiting the motorway in Otahuhu will travel onto an arterial road. The interchange being created to the new Highbrook Business Park will provide significant employment opportunities for the people of Otahuhu. Around 12,000 jobs will be created by this new centre, with many of the employees travelling from outside the area expected to use the new link on a daily basis. The project is divided into two stages: Stage 1
Stage 2
Stage 2 of the work is subject to work being confirmed for inclusion in the 10 year State Highway Forecast. |
