| Purpose: | Current Stage: Public and Stakeholder Consultation Transit New Zealand, along with the Christchurch City Council and Environment Canterbury, is considering measures that will help improve bus journey time reliability in Christchurch. A measure identified to help achieve this journey time reliability is being considered on Travis Road/Bassett Street. The measure proposed is designed to reduce delays for buses turning right, from Bassett Street into Travis Road. The measure would prevent eastbound traffic tunrnign right, into Bassett Street. |

| Interesting Facts: | Consultation information can also be found on the consultation page |
| Other: | This bus priority measure is being considered because buses' length and limited acceleration means they require a significant gap in both traffic lanes on Travis Road to be able to safely turn right, out of Bassett Street. Services are currently being held up for more than a minute during peak traffic, creating unsatisfactory delays for bus passengers and frustration for motorists waiting behind the bus. The measure does not preclude replacing the Burwood Road / Travis Road roundabout with traffic lights and in the longer term, the 4-laning of Travis Road through to Anzac Drive.
