| Purpose: | To improve safety at the intersection of Tahuna Road and SH27 by replacing the existing staggered tee intersection with a roundabout. |

| Engineering Features:
| The first stage of works involves placing excess fill in the new embankment areas to encourage the underlying soft ground to settle. This is expected to take six months. Once the ground has settled the excess fill will be used to form new fill slopes and construction of the roundabout will start.

| Tahuna Road is a local road administered by Matamata-Piako District Council. Both roads carry high levels of heavy vehicles (18% compared to the national average of around 10%). |
