Length: 25km.
Status: Route identified. Design to be completed by 2011, construction not in 10 year State Highway Forecast
Route details:

  • This is the longest section of expressway and the most expensive. It features major connections to Hamilton at Horotiu and Tamahere. This acknowledges that the majority of SH 1 traffic intends to stop in Hamilton.
  • Travels east of Hamilton City
  • Will link with existing Tamahere Expressway south of Hamilton
  • Efficient road links to Hamilton from north and south
  • Will provide ready access to Waikato Regional Airport
