Hamilton Bypass Map
Summary: The Hamilton Bypass is the longest section of expressway and the most expensive. It will provide efficient road links to Hamilton from north and south and will provide ready access to Waikato airport.
Length: 21km (From Lake Road Horotiu to just north of the Tamahere interchange)
Cost: $550M to $650M for four lanes.
Status: Route identified and designated. Design work will commence in late 2009.
Route details:
- Hamilton Bypass is routed east of Hamilton City, generally outside the Hamilton City boundary.
- It will link with the Ngaruawahia Bypass in the north and the Tamahere Deviation in the south, which is the existing four-laned expressway south of Hamilton.
