Transit New Zealand and Rodney District Council are working together to improve State Highway One and its connections in Warkworth. The proposed improvements focus on the SH1 intersections between Hudson Road and McKinney Road.
This project will develop integrated state highway and local road improvements to support growth in Rodney and ease congestion in Warkworth. Improving the roading situation will improve the community’s quality of life and support future economic development.
Improvements are proposed for:
Widening SH1 to four lanes is also proposed between Woodcocks Road and Whitaker Road, and at the Hudson Road, Hill Street (SH1) and McKinney Road intersections.
Completing this work will manage congestion, particularly in peak periods, improve safety, and provide better walking and cycling opportunities.
Community information days for SH1 Warkworth improvements Two community information days were held in August for Warkworth residents and SH1 users. Almost 700 people attended the two information days to have a closer look at planned improvements to the state highway and local roads.More

What is the Western Collector Route? The Western Collector Route is a new road proposed by Rodney District Council, that will link McKinney Road and Hudson Road to cater for local traffic and service new developments planned west of SH1.
What consultation has taken place with the community? Two community information days were held to give Warkworth residents and SH1 users a chance to find out more about the planned improvements for the area.
