Wellington Inner City Bypass manager wins award

Transit New Zealand project engineer Jonnette Adams has today been announced as the winner of the NZIM Young Executive Award for the Central Region. She will go on to compete against two other regional finalists at the National Young Executive Awards in Auckland on Thursday 23 November 2006. 

Jonnette has been with Transit for the past five years and has managed a number of significant projects including the $40 million Wellington Inner City Bypass, a project which attracted immense public scrutiny during its conception. 

Ms Adams said that being given the Inner City Bypass project to manage was a major stepping stone in her career and has provided numerous challenges but also many positives including working with a great team. 

"It's an honour to be named the Central winner of the Young Executive Awards as it represents the value of hard work and good project management, not only in the corporate office but also out in the field." 

"I'm looking forward to representing the region in November," she said. 

Transit regional manager Graham Taylor said that Transit was delighted to have one of the team be a recipient of the award. 

"Jonnette is an outstanding engineer who has shown real commitment to achieving results and making sure that our major roading projects are managed effectively and efficiently. The Inner City Bypass is a good example of this." 

"We wish her the best of luck at the National Awards in Auckland," he said.  

The Young Executive of the Year Award was established by NZIM and Management Magazine to recognise outstanding individuals who are prepared to go beyond perceived limitations, embrace emerging practices, and search out new opportunities while demonstrating excellent leadership and management practices.
