Auckland Harbour Bridge Resurfacing Works
Resealing works begin 26 December 2005 to 8 January 2006.
If you're a North Shore resident, or travelling out of Auckland for the holidays, don't forget resealing works are taking place on the bridge during the Christmas and New Year period. While the work has been scheduled for the time of year when traffic is at its quietest, motorists should be aware that there could be some delays. The work is essential for the upkeep and maintenance of the harbour bridge.
Resealing work begins
- 6am Monday 26 December 2005 and continues to 10pm Sunday 8 January 2006
Lane and on-ramp closures during this period
- Lanes 1 and 2 northbound (clip-on lanes) will be closed
- Curran Street on-ramp will be closed
- A clearly signed detour route will be in place at the Curran Street on-ramp to direct traffic to the bridge via the Fanshawe Street on-ramp
- Three lanes will still be operating on the bridge in each direction during the resealing works.
Maintenance
- The resealing work includes the application of a new polyurethane surface to improve safety and minimise future delays for motorists
- There may be a small amount of intermittent grinding noise on Monday 26 December from 11pm to 5am on Tuesday 27 December
Avoid the traffic
- Where possible, take alternative forms of transport such as ferries and buses
- Avoid travelling at peak times
- Watch out for electronic message signs to guide you past roadwork sites
Stay Tuned
- Weather conditions may impact and delay the expected completion date
- Updates of the closures will be advertised on radio stations such as Newstalk ZB and in the NZ Herald and suburban newspapers
For more information regarding the closures, please phone 0800 RESEAL (0800 737 325).
