Long Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) Programme
There are 63 LTPP sections on the State Highway network in New Zealand. They have been selected to provide good coverage of pavements with different construction types and traffic volumes.
New Zealand embarked on a Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) programme with the establishment of the 63 LTPP sites on the State Highway network during the year 2000.
These sections were chosen across New Zealand based on a design matrix that allowed for expected ranges of climatic and soil conditions, traffic volumes, the strength of the pavements and its age / condition to be considered.
Six survey rounds have been completed on each of these LTPP sections.
The brochure above 'General Information' explains the data collection plus the research work that has been completed on these sections.
The information below provides guidance for Network Management Team on how to manage these sections.
